The Shakespearian quote I would use to describe the Westside neighborhood of Palms is derived from A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “Though she be but little she is fierce.” Measuring 1.95 square miles, Palms is one of the most densely populated and diverse neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

Peppered with mid-rise apartment buildings, a smattering of locally-owned restaurants and the ever eccentric Museum of Jurassic Technology, the area maintains a welcoming, residential vibe and is well-served by the Metro Expo Line. Plus, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump from Culver City, a foodie haven and employment hub for creatives.

If you’re looking for a newly-built apartment in Palms, consider one of these four luxury communities.

1. The Roy

Developer: Anejo Development
Location: 3644 Overland Avenue
Priced from: $2,935

Situated along Overland Avenue, The Roy offers a limited number of one- and two-bedroom apartments with chef-grade appliances and modern finishes. The pet-friendly community touts a long list of amenities, including a rooftop deck with sweeping city views, a WiFi-enabled common area with a demonstration kitchen and comfortable seating, secured bike racks, 24-hour accessible package lockers, and a fitness center with cardio machines and weight training equipment. Residents will live within walking distance of raved-about restaurants like Kogi Taqueria, The Doughroom, n/naka and Overland Cafe.

2. The Goldwyn

Developer: 10300 Venice, LLC
Location: 10300 Venice Boulevard
Priced from: $2,950

At the nexus of Palms and Culver City is The Goldwyn, a stylish rental residence with 34 apartments and penthouses. There will be two units available in July — both one-bedroom, one-bathroom layouts — with hardwood floors, in-suite laundry, air conditioning and spacious balconies. The building boasts a rooftop deck, resident lounge, exercise-friendly staircases and secure, covered parking. There’s also an onsite restaurant, Jaffa, which serves up modern Israeli dishes.

3. Upper Ivy

Developers: Lowe Enterprises Investors and Aecom Capital
Location: 8840 National Boulevard
Priced from: $3,790

Okay, so maybe this one’s *technically* located in Culver City (it’s just across from Venice Boulevard), but we had to include it anyway. Upper Ivy is opening this summer and has already begun leasing studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The residences are well-appointed, featuring quartz countertops, modern designer cabinetry, wide plank vinyl wood flooring, walk-in closets with custom organizers and full-size washers and dryers.

There are townhouse and penthouse options for growing families, complete with private patios, expansive roof terraces and smart home technology (as per plan). Residents will be able to walk to the PLATFORM outdoor shopping center, the design showrooms of Helms Bakery District, and the Culver City station on the Metro Expo Line.

4. Cobalt

Developer: Greystar
Location: 10601 West Washington Boulevard
Priced from: $2,513

Another development that’s more Culver City than Palms is Cobalt, a modern collection of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments near the Sony lot. The residences offer a timeless aesthetic, complete with stainless steel appliances, moveable kitchen islands, plank flooring and private outdoor spaces (as per plan).

The community is centered around a resort-inspired pool and spa that’s surrounded by cabanas, barbecue stations, lounge seating and a cozy fireplace. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness center and a suite of services offered by Hello Alfred. It’s just a 12-minute stroll to the shops and restaurants of downtown Culver City, but closer to home residents can shop for groceries at Ralphs, hunt for treasures at BTS Thrift Store or belt out karaoke tunes at Backstage Bar & Grill.
