Two blocks of townhomes containing 12 single-family residences have reached their full, four-story height at the corner of West 6th Street and South Van Ness Avenue. The structures are fully framed and some of the floor-to-ceiling windows have been installed.

The project is being developed by Van Ness Partners I, LLC and will include one unit of affordable housing for a very low-income family, reserved for a duration of 55 years. Venice Beach-based architecture and design studio, Electric Bowery, is behind the innovative design — Angelenos might recognize the team’s work from the Silver Lake Pool & Inn or NeueHouse Hollywood.

According to architectural plans submitted to Los Angeles City Planning, each four-story townhouse will feature a two-car garage, ground-floor office space, an open-concept kitchen, living and dining area, and two secondary bedrooms with walk-in closets and ensuite baths.

The spacious master retreat occupies the entire top floor, complete with a spa-like ensuite featuring a soaker tub inside the shower area, double sink vanity and a private water closet. There’s also a scenic roof terrace for outdoor entertaining.

Interior finishes will include wide-plank oak hardwood floors, honed limestone countertops and matching backsplashes, American walnut millwork, cement bathroom tile and industrial-style staircases with mesh guardrails.

The streetscape will be enlivened with lush landscaping and a central courtyard with a water feature will separate the two buildings.

Future residents of 610 South Van Ness Avenue will be just a ten-minute walk from the Wilshire/Western subway station on the Metro purple line. Grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops and fitness studios are also within a short stroll of the under-construction development.
