A 50-unit apartment building by developer Oakmont Capital has reached its full height near the corner of Centinela Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The five-story building is partially wrapped and scaffolding stretches all the way around it. A hoist has also been installed to transport construction materials and workers from floor to floor.

When complete, 12431 Rochester Avenue will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows and frameless glass balcony balustrades (as per plan). Designed by Reed Architectural Group, the contemporary exterior will be clad in white stucco and black metal siding, and a pop of lime green will frame one of the entrances. Planter boxes will further enliven the streetscape with colorful flora.

Future residents of 12431 Rochester Avenue will live within walking distance of everyday conveniences like grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and health care centers. There are delicious restaurants, cozy coffee shops and lively bars nearby, including Milo & Olive, Blu Jam Cafe and Sonny McLean’s Irish Pub.

The property was purchased for more than $7 million in 2017 and was formerly occupied by a commercial building that housed a psychic, nail salon, video store and cafe.
