Site preparations will soon begin on Florence Avenue West, where a 128-unit apartment building has been approved for construction by Los Angeles City Planning. The multifamily residence is being developed by local property management firm Haroni Investments, LLC. A total of 13 units will be reserved for extremely low-income residents.

John Kaliski Architects designed the five-story building, which will include central courtyards, outdoor terraces, a lobby, bike storage room and a multi-purpose rec room. Most apartments will feature a balcony and there are 64 parking spaces planned. The exterior will be clad in off-white stucco, punctuated with bright orange accents. Construction is expected to wrap up by 2021.

Located at 1632-1656 W. Florence Avenue, the site has been vacant for more than ten years and appears to have been cleared for the start of construction. Future residents of the apartment complex will be a short bus ride from Florence/West station along the new Metro Crenshaw/LAX Line, slated to open later this year.
