A four-unit multi-family residence could soon be replaced by a four-story apartment building with 36 units, ground-level parking and a rooftop deck. On Monday, a site plan review was submitted to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning for 4101 Somerset Drive in Baldwin Hills.

The property was purchased by affordable housing developer SoLa Impact in February of 2019. It’s located across the street from the brand new Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Medical Offices and one block from the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall, which features a Cinemark movie theater, Albertsons grocery store, fast-casual restaurants, and dozens of retailers.

Future residents of the planned apartment complex will be within a ten-minute walk of the Martin Luther King Jr. station on the new Crenshaw/LAX Line, which is expected to open in June.
