Transformation is in the air for the 20-acre site of the former Galleria Shopping Centre in Toronto’s west end neighbourhood. This week, Elad Canada announced the first phase of Galleria on the Park — a master-planned community that will revamp the corner of Dufferin Street and Dupont Street. As one of the largest communities to be introduced to Toronto this year, Galleria on the Park is poised to transform the industrial, up-and-coming neighbourhood into a vibrant hub and thriving community within the city at large.

In total, Galleria on the Park will encompass eight mixed-use buildings, including nearly 2,900 condominium residences (150 of which will be affordable rental housing units), almost 300,000 square feet of retail, a 95,000-square-foot community centre and an approximately eight-acre park.

Galleria 01 will be the first tower erected, standing 29-storeys tall and featuring 267 residences which will range from 493 to 1,107 square feet. Prices will start in the high $400,000s. It will also feature 40,000 square feet of commercial space spanning two storeys to support the growing local community. With design by CORE Architects, the flagship building will be clad with dark and rich metals, paying homage to the industrial character of the neighbourhood.

In unison with the launch of the first phase, Elad Canada will also reveal the brand new Wallace Emerson Community Centre, which at 95,000 square feet will be double the size of the current facility. Designed by the internationally-recognized architecture firm Perkins and Will, the community centre will be one of the largest and most visually striking in Toronto, boasting a wide range of programming and activities for a multi-generational demographic, including an outdoor skating trail, daycare, community kitchen, a dance studio, swimming pools, and a running track, among others.

The amenities and suites, by award-winning design firm U31, bring urban sophistication indoors. With an emphasis on family-friendly lifestyles, amenities on the third floor include an expansive co-working space that doubles as an events space, opening out to a wrap-around outdoor terrace, as well as a kids’ playroom, a screening and games room, and a chef’s kitchen and dining room. On the twelfth floor, residents can enjoy views of the park and the city skyline while lounging by the pool or working out in the fitness centre.

To make the new hub even more accessible, a new street will be introduced that runs diagonally through the site connecting Dufferin Street to Dupont Street, ensuring maximum public frontage onto the expansive Wallace Emerson Park. With new artisanal restaurants and cafés cropping up within the Dupont West neighbourhood, along with a fast-growing entrepreneurial energy, and arts and culture scene on Geary Avenue, the neighbourhood is primed to become a west-end hotspot and a cornerstone of urban renewal in the city.

Galleria 01, the first tower of the two-tower building in Galleria on the Park, will feature 267 residences, ranging from 493 square feet to 1,107 square feet. Prices start from high $400,000s. For more information and to register, please visit the website.
