If you’ve got a knack for dusting and styling dinnerware, open shelves can be a stylish addition to any modern kitchen. But when you throw kids into the mix — and all the sippy cups, melamine plates and wipeable placemats that come with them — closed storage is the way to go. Designer Cynthia Soda of Soda Pop Design Inc. transformed this builder basic kitchen to fit her family’s needs, altering the layout, adding floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and tricking it out with functional design features. Here Cynthia tours us around her monochromatic masterpiece and gets real about renovation timelines.
