One of the city’s most anticipated master-planned communities is a step closer to transforming the Ottawa-Gatineau waterfront. The first residents of O Condominiums at Zibi by Dream and Theia Partners have started to move in. The 70-unit mid-rise is the first residential building to be completed on the 34-acre parcel of land that includes the Chaudière and Albert Islands and adjacent downtown Gatineau riverfront.

When complete, Zibi will bring upwards of 1,500 condominium and rental units, 7.7 acres of greenspace and 430,000 square feet of commercial, retail, cultural and institutional space to the derelict former Domtar Lands. It will also become Canada’s first One Planet Community — a model based on a series of principles that include incorporating carbon neutral buildings powered by renewable energy, making efficient use of land and greenspaces, and implementing a transport system that includes walking and cycling paths to reduce greenhouse gas and carbon emissions.

Designed by Figurr Architects Collective, O Condominiums is a modern, six-storey building characterized by clean, contemporary lines, oversized balconies and terraces, and large ground floor commercial retail spaces. The project is topped off with a shared rooftop terrace, providing the perfect spot to take in the views of the waterfront and Parliament.

Residents of Zibi will have access to a wealth of local amenities within the neighbourhood, including a future waterfront plaza equipped with outdoor furniture and public art. Local and international shops and restaurants will animate the community. Many of the older buildings are being restored and modernized with world-class architecture, public gathering spaces and vibrant storefronts. Just minutes away is downtown Gatineau, where a mix of culinary offerings, boutique shops, and nightlife await, while Ottawa’s vibrant downtown core and cultural attractions are also nearby.

Priced from the mid $300s, the suites at O Condominiums offer bright, open-concept layouts with up to three bedrooms and two-storey loft units with private terraces. Standard features and finishes include nine-foot ceilings, prefinished engineered hardwood floors in main living areas, and contemporary kitchens equipped with Energy Star stainless steel appliances and quartz or granite countertops.

A state-of-the-art presentation centre is under construction and scheduled to open Spring 2019. The stunning new space promises to be more of a tourist attraction than a sales office with a living tree growing in the middle and a curated five-senses experience that reflects the history of the site. You can experience the future of Zibi atop the presentation centre’s 8 storey viewing tower with an innovative VR experience.
