Like other large cities around the world, Toronto has seen a significant transformation of many of its neighbourhoods over the last two decades. Areas like West Queen West and Liberty Village have emerged from their industrial pasts and become home to popular boutiques, restaurants, galleries and thousands of young professionals living in brand new condominiums.

Recognizing the Stockyards District as an area that carries this transformative potential, Marlin Spring Developments set its sight on the city’s west end for its latest project, Stockyards District Residences. The Stockyards District is a transitioning community rife with opportunity and growth where at every turn, new retail stores, event spaces, owner-operated shops and restaurants and craft breweries are setting up shop and replacing former industrial spaces and facilities.

Located at 2306 St. Clair Avenue West, Stockyard District Residences is ideally situated within minutes of local amenities including public transit, bike paths, shops and cafes. Within walking distance is the Stock Yards Village, a mixed-use urban retail centre with over 554,000 square feet of retail and office space. In every direction, the conveniences of city living abound.

One of the area’s most interesting buildings is The Symes, a historic Art Deco structure at 150 Symes Road. Built in 1933 and designed by City of Toronto chief architect John James Woolnough, The Symes is a classic example of early 20th century industrial architecture. It has recently been restored and redeveloped as a stunning venue and event space with Junction Brewery conveniently located next door in an equally unique space.

As a nod to historical buildings like The Symes, Marlin Spring Developments partnered with the renowned Graziani + Corazza Architects to design a mid-rise tower characterized by industrial-inspired architectural elements. The exterior of the ten-storey building boasts black window mullions, glass balconies and classic brick cladding.
