Smart-home technology can completely transform a dwelling, and Vancouver-based builder Alabaster Homes is showcasing how through its innovative Smart Home Exhibition.
The exhibition display home blends modern interior design with the cutting-edge tech available at the Shaughnessy Residences, the award-winning builder’s 15-home townhome project in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Marpole neighbourhood.
“Alabaster’s philosophy is that technology shouldn’t just be a bunch of gimmicky toys,” says Yosh Kasahara, director of sales and marketing for Alabaster Homes. “We have worked with our team to curate this collection of tools that is meant to add value to homeowners’ lives,” he adds.
In collaboration with interior designer Gaile Guevara Design Studio, visitors experience a new generation of Vancouver townhome living powered by an integrated technological ecosystem featuring Sonos with Alexa, Nest, Savant, and more.
The Smart Home Exhibition demonstrates how Shaughnessy Residences homeowners can discover the future of townhome living, today. First-hand, they’ll see how the WiFi-controlled system can be used to lock doors, adjust the thermostat and lighting, and set alarms.
And by using the voice-controlled Amazon Echo, they’ll be able to make all that happen with simple verbal commands.
Incorporating the tech doesn’t meant having to sacrifice interior design sensibilities. Local firm Gaile Guevara Design Studio has put considerable thought into how to integrate the technology. “We worked in partnership with local designers and manufacturers to help tell a story of the modern Vancouver family,” says Gaile Guevara, the studio’s creative director.
There are just five finely-crafted townhomes available at Shaughnessy Residences, with pricing starting at $1.9 million. Boasting a size range of 1,718 to 2,063 square feet, these upscale townhomes are considerably larger than the product coming to market recently. “This is the last opportunity to own one of the last generously-sized townhomes in Vancouver,” notes Alabaster’s Kasahara.
All townhomes boast three or four bedrooms and a den, plus a lower-level flex room with direct access to parking. Some include a private enclosed garage.
At 8137 Shaughnessy Street, south of West 64th Avenue, the Shaughnessy Residences are conveniently located in the middle of Marpole, among Vancouver’s oldest, most established neighbourhoods. Nearby, residents will find a wide array of shops and amenities, including the Oakridge Centre, Cambie Corridor, Canada Line, Marpole Oakridge Community Centre, and Oak Park.
