Millennial Pink, you’ve had a good reign. Over the last four years (some say since the release of Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel), the pale shade of pink has permeated fashion, interiors, technology and even food. But there’s a new hue in town — a punchier, energizing color called Gen-Z Yellow.

The name was coined by Haley Nahman, a writer for Man Repeller, who noticed it cropping up on the Instagram accounts of young and influential celebrities like Millie Bobby Brown, Kylie Jenner and Zendaya. The color is being touted as the next big thing in fashion — not merely a passing fad. And because what sashays down the runway has a direct influence on the furniture and decor we decorate our homes with, we figured we’d welcome the trend with a roundup of 11 Gen-Z Yellow decor essentials.

1. Pleasant Resident Doormat from ModCloth, $32.00

April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring muddy footprints into the house. Encourage your guests to wipe their boots on this cheerful doormat, which also adds a bright pop of color to your entryway.

2. Cushion Cover with Tassels from H&M Home, $12.99

Earlier this week, Pinterest released its 2018 Home Report, and surprisingly, fringe neared the top of the list. We love how this tassel-adorned cushion cover combines two trends in one.

3. Full Organic Camel Hair Percale Sheet Set from CB2, $89.95

Is there any material more intimate than a bedsheet? We rub our faces in them, we drool all over them, and sometimes, we allow our dogs to steal them. This 100 percent organic cotton sheet set from CB2 contains no pesticides, no chemicals and no preservatives. The color might be Gen-Z Yellow, but the ethos is all green.

4. Studio Floor Lamp from Schoolhouse Electric, $359.00

Just like this Mid-Century Modern-inspired floor lamp, Gen-Z Yellow takes its cues from the color palettes of the 1960s. With angular lines and a bulbous shade, it’s sure to make a statement in your living room or home office.

5. Yellow Chunky Weave Table Runner from Target, $22.99

Target’s Project 62 line also reflects a modernist aesthetic, and this darling table runner crafted from a cotton-blend fabric is no exception. The pattern looks like something that would have decorated a sixties mod dress.

6. Bennet Rocking Chair from Structube, $399.00

A fresh twist on the classic rocking chair, the Bennett is sure to become the most coveted seat in the house. Its Gen-Z Yellow hue livens up any living room or nursery, and the 100 percent ash wood gliders add a natural touch.

7. Pompom Curtain from Urban Outfitters, $69.00 – $79.00

Texture is a huge trend this year (that’s also according to Pinterest), and the pompoms on this semi-sheer curtain give it a sense of playfulness. Similar to Millennial Pink, Gen-Z Yellow isn’t just one shade, but an array of colors — here, it borders on orange.

8. Gunther Framed Painting from AllModern, $116.99

If you’re nervous about integrating such a bold color into your home, artwork can be a great starting point. If you don’t like it, you can always swap it out for another print or painting. This printed canvas from AllModern is sunny and simplistic, making it the perfect addition to your gallery wall.

9. Bohemian Spring Removable Wallpaper from Etsy, $38.38+

Gen-Z Yellow pairs well with cornflower blue and peachy pink, as seen here in this removable wallpaper from the CUCKOOwalls Etsy shop. The wallpaper is easy to hang and peel off, so even renters can get in on the action.

10. French Yellow Kendall Sofa from World Market, $749.99

Was this sofa named after Kendall Jenner, another early adopter of the Gen-Z Yellow trend? Featuring hand-tufted detailing and tapered solid wood legs, this velvet-like sofa is a real showstopper.

11. Sabrina Indoor/Outdoor Rug from Anthropologie, $248.00 –$1,598.00

The beauty of an indoor/outdoor rug is that it can ward off stains from messy toddlers and take a beating in high-traffic areas of the house. This flat-woven polyester rug from Anthropologie is UV-resistant and features a bubbly pattern. We love how the yellow anchors the design, but doesn’t overwhelm.
