What was once a narrow, ill-equipped kitchen is now a light-drenched, open-concept space defined by a 12-foot-long island, distressed wood beams and a backsplash that’s basically a work of art. It took some mild coaxing, but interior designer Cynthia Soda assured her clients that the black, white and gold color palette would pay off in a big way — and boy, did it ever.
