Tenants and landlords rarely see eye to eye when it comes to painting rental properties. You crave a dark and dramatic accent wall behind your bed, while your landlord would feel more comfortable with the same off-white shade that’s been there since the early-aughts.

Tempaper, an American company that produces self-adhesive, removable wallpaper, has come up with a genius solution to this common renter’s woe: a temporary wall canvas that can be painted in the color of your choosing, or scribbled on with pens, pencils, markers and crayons. Known as Tempaper By You, the product is perfect for color-lovers and kids alike, especially little Picassos who are fond of drawing on the walls.

Tempaper uses safe, high-quality materials that are 100 percent made in the USA. Their products are free of lead, phthalates and VOCs, which means they’re good for the environment and your health. Applying the paintable wallpaper is easy — simply measure the height and width of your walls, cut your panel to the proper size, line it up, peel away the backing, and stick it to your surface. You can use a squeegee to smooth out any air pockets, or trim the Tempaper with a razor to cut around mouldings, vents and outlets.

The company recommends applying their removable wallpaper to smooth walls that are in good condition, which have been painted using an eggshell, satin or semi-gloss finish. When you’re ready to move out or change up the look of your space, simply peel down the panels to reveal unscathed, boring white walls.

A roll of Tempaper By You retails for $56 USD, and measures 20.5 inches by 11 yards, or 52 centimeters by 10 meters. It’s also eligible for international shipping via FedEx delivery.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some color samples to pore over.
