A unique loft-inspired condo community will be launching later this month in east-end Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood.

On Saturday, May 27th, Grid Developments is hosting the grand opening for The Lofthouse, a 58-unit collection of sizeable loft-inspired suites, at 14 Dewhurst Boulevard north of the Danforth at Jones. Those interested in attending can register at thelofthouse.ca.

The Lofthouse will rise six storeys at 495 Logan Avenue on the northeast corner of Gerrard Street East and Logan Avenue and follows Grid’s successful Sunday School Lofts in Greektown just to the north.

While one-bedroom units are prevalent at many other developments, the Lofthouse, which has prices starting from the $500,000s, features just a lone single-bedroom suite.

The developers have instead focused on offering more spacious residences, including 49 two- or three-bedroom units that average more than 900 square feet.

Three-bedroom units, which make up over 10 per cent of the project, should appeal to young families looking to upsize from smaller dwellings in areas like Central Toronto or nearby Leslieville.

Special attention is going towards the design of the units at the Lofthouse. Grid has called in Andrew Pike to handle suites’ interior design. Design and decor buffs might recognize the popular designer for his appearances on HGTV and the Marilyn Denis Show.

The Lofthouse’s California-modern interiors will boast chrome fixtures, light-coloured, natural-stone surfaces, porcelain tile, and cabinetry and vanities of cerused oak.

Such attention to detail and quality has gone right down to the parking level, which will feature tandem-shuffle parking stackers from German manufacturer Klaus Car Parking Systems. Passersby will be able to see the efficient space-saving technology in action from behind a semi-transparent glass wall.

Grid is a merging of experienced builders Urban Fabric Development and Aykler Developments, both of which have specialized in mid-rise development, with a particular focus on infill projects.

At the recent 2017 BILD Awards, Grid picked up the award for Best Model Suite for its Sunday School Lofts model suite.
