Over the Rainbow, a high-end denim and clothing retailer, has announced it will move from its current location at 101 Yorkville Avenue to the Manulife Centre in late 2018.

The new store will be larger than the Yorkville Avenue location and feature architectural design from Toronto-based firm Giannone Petricone Associates Inc, according to a press release distributed today.

A family-owned business, Over the Rainbow has become a staple of the Bloor-Yorkville shopping scene since it was founded in 1975.

Dramatic changes are underway for the Manulife Centre itself, which will house the first Canadian expansion of the Italian marketplace Eataly, which will open as part of a $100 million renovation of the mall complex. The three-level Eataly is slated to open in 2019.

“We believe the dynamic redevelopment plans to Manulife Centre complement our store’s vision for the future,” says Over the Rainbow founder Joel Carman in the press release.

“Not to mention being surrounded by great retailers in the building and having direct access to the subway and underground parking facilities,” he adds.
