181 Fremont, the chic condo tower conveniently located right next to the Transbay Terminal, is building a $42 million penthouse. Perched up on the 70th floor, it will be one of only 55 upscale units for sale in the entire building.

At 6,941 square feet, the space boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two walk-in closets, a den, library, as well as a separate study. Designed by Orlando Diaz Azcuy, the opulence of the penthouse is apparent in details such as a wet bar with a wine tower and a stacked stone transparent fireplace.

But the best part? One of the bathrooms has a freestanding tub ensconced in clouds. If the space is anything like the floorplan pictured below, you’d be able to shout from one end of the home and not hear a peep on the other side.

Even the doorknobs are of the highest quality. According to the developers, the penthouse includes “polished brass handles custom-forged by Parisian artisan Daniel Padva.” All of the units are said to contain natural materials from across the globe.

The development’s amenities include a full floor communal gathering space on the 52nd story, which is where the luxury condos begin. The area is characterized by The Conservatory, Bay Terrace, a state-of-the-art fitness center with yoga room, two lounges, a library, catering kitchen, and conference room.

The $42 million price tag for a single residential unit is surpassed only by the $49 million Lumina penthouse, which holds the record for San Francisco’s most expensive listing.
