Following WeWork’s announcement last week that it would be opening its first Toronto space at 240 Richmond Street West, BuzzBuzzNews has learned that WeWork Toronto's official opening date will be this summer.
July 1st, 2017 will be the opening date for the location, a representative from the US shared workspace giant said over the phone.
BuzzBuzzNews first reported on the planned Toronto expansion in December 2015. Before moving forward with a location in Canada’s largest city, WeWork first opened a space in Montreal in 2016. A location at 595 Burrard Street in Vancouver is also planned.
The Toronto space is set in a 100-year-old building on Richmond Street and will include six floors of private offices, co-working spaces and meeting rooms, according to the company’s website. A dedicated desk will cost $700 per month while private offices start from $1,000 per month.
WeWork will be touring the space for potential lessees in the coming months.
Earlier this week Canadian tech news site Betakit broke the news about the official location.
“Our view is that Toronto is a capital of business, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and we don’t see any reason to be cautious about it,” WeWork General Manager Dave McLaughlin told Betakit.
