Known as the gateway to the Thousand Islands, the town of Gananoque is ideally located between Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and New York state. From the breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River to the warmth and hospitality of the locals, “Gan” — as many refer to it — is quickly becoming a popular choice for new homebuyers. The short drive from Highway 401 to the Discovery Centre includes a stretch through Gan’s village-like downtown core lined with shops and restaurants, like local favourites The Socialist Pig, Riva and Anthony’s.

Architecture buffs will have plenty to see thanks to the many heritage buildings that dot the area such as the Town Hall, historic Clock Tower and old mansions that have been converted into bed and breakfasts. The Centre itself is across the street from Confederation Park located on the banks of the Gananoque River.

Priced from $276,900 the Reid & Siemonsen-designed suites feature wide plank engineered hardwood floors, high ceilings and custom-designed kitchens with shaker-style cabinets and the choice of open shelving or full height uppers. The kitchens also come equipped with granite or quartz countertops and an appliance package with a stainless steel dishwasher, stove, range hood and counter-depth Fisher & Paykel refrigerator.

The layouts range in size from 524 square feet to 1,547 square feet and were designed to make the most of the development’s waterfront location. Each unit boasts generous outdoor space including eight-foot deep balconies and terraces up to 325 square feet. Plus, 90 per cent of units have beautiful views of the St. Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands, while the remainder offer sweeping views of the city and its historic architecture.

The majority of suites also feature a ‘flex’ space which can be used as a den, office or guest room. However, prospective homebuyers who require even more space can combine units and customize the floorplans to suit their style and needs.
