Slated for completion in 2018, 1 Yorkville by Bazis and Plaza is one of the city’s most anticipated new construction development. The 58-storey tower is wrapped in a “3D wallpaper” exoskeleton designed by award-winning architect Rosario Varacalli. Made of metallic ribbons and steel cladding, its undulating facade and sharp edges create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that appears to transform the tower depending on light conditions and the viewer’s perspective. At the base of the tower, a strip of mid-19th century heritage buildings fronting Yonge Street will be preserved and incorporated into the design creating a fusion of old and new.

When we last visited in June, construction crews had finished reinforcing the heritage buildings and prepared the land for shoring and excavation work. The following months saw the project achieve some major milestones, including the completion of excavation of its five-level parking garage. Another significant sign of progress is the addition of the tower crane and the installation of the foundation mat. At this point, crews are getting ready to install slab on grade meaning it won’t be long before we start to see the tower start to rise above the neighbourhood.

As construction at 1 Yorkville moves along swiftly, units are selling comparably quickly. There are only a handful of suites remaining, starting from $1.5 million. Available suites boast impeccably appointed living spaces and offer the latest in features and finishes. Standard in all homes are nine- or ten-foot smooth finished ceilings, pre-engineered flooring throughout, imported porcelain tiles in bathrooms, and gourmet kitchens with quartz countertops, under cabinet lighting and custom cabinetry by DesignAgency. A full appliance package is also included consisting of a fully-integrated refrigerator and freezer, built-in electric cooktop and wall oven, integrated dishwasher and concealed microwave and range hood. Select suites include premium kitchens equipped with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, large walk-in closets and spa-like ensuites.

In addition to the 577 luxury residential suites, 1 Yorkville offers an impressive array of lifestyle amenities spread across three levels. These amenities include a luxurious spa with an outdoor pool, hot tub, hot and cold plunge pools, zen garden and a fully-equipped CrossFit studio. On the rooftop, the large amenity deck, outdoor cinema and fire pit lounge are ideal spots for entertaining, while the sun deck is perfect for rest and relaxation.

A signature concierge service will also be available offering 24-hour service for dining, theatre or concert reservations, laundry and dry cleaning services, pet care, housekeeping, interior design and more.

Plus, with such a prestigious address comes an excellent location just steps from Toronto’s famed Mink Mile. Residents can shop in style with designer stores like Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada, Chanel and Holt Renfrew all within walking distance. Arts, culture and fine dining are also nearby including the Royal Ontario Museum, Kasa Moto Japanese Restaurant and Lounge and Daniel Boulud’s Cafe at the Four Seasons.
