Located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the community of Newtonbrook West, Kenton Park Crown Residences is a highly anticipated project coming soon to North York. The master-planned community is the latest by Markham-based Grandfield Homes and will offer an exclusive collection of elegantly designed single family homes with upscale features and high-end finishes. With only 15 lots available, the new infill also provides a unique opportunity to live in an established neighbourhood dotted with mature homes, tree-lined streets and local amenities.

BuzzBuzzNews recently caught up with Craig Grantham of Grandfield Homes to learn more about Kenton Park Residences, the developer and their plans for the future.

BuzzBuzzNews: What is your professional background? When did you first delve into real estate and how did you get involved with Grandfield Homes?

Craig Grantham: I have a diverse background in construction. I started in the industry as a residential home designer and then transitioned into construction management. From there, I partnered and ran two residential construction firms as a builder and developer.

I’ve also been employed as vice president, general manager and president in numerous well known residential building firms and have over 30 years of construction experience.

BBN: Can you describe your role(s) within the company?

CG: I am employed currently as a Senior Project Manager within Grandfield Homes. My role is to oversee the construction of both high-end production homes as well as premium custom homes.

BBN: Could you tell us a little about Grandfield Homes? What was the vision for the company when it was launched? What kind of projects has the developer completed in the past?

CG: Grandfield Homes has a strong diverse background in the construction industry both as a builder and developer. The Grandfield Homes vision is building high quality homes tailored with strong innovation and attention to design detail while ensuring the client’s needs are integral within the construction of their home. Grandfield Homes has completed both custom and high end production developments in the Toronto-GTA area.

BBN: Kenton Park Crown Residences is your latest project. Which part of Toronto is it located and when do you expect to launch?

CG: It is located in the Newtonbrook West area in north Toronto (formerly North York), east of Bathurst Street and north of Finch Avenue West at 50 Kenton Drive. We expect to launch sales in spring 2017.

BBN: The 15-unit infill development is surrounded by mature homes in an established neighbourhood. What attracted Grandfield to this area? What makes it special?

CG: Grandfield Homes was attracted to the area based on the diverse architecture of the existing homes. It also provided an opportunity to blend new innovative homes within an established, desirable and growing community.

BBN: What types of homes will be available?

CG: Kenton Park Crown Residences is a collection of 15 luxurious, two-storey single estate homes on a prestigious cul-de-sac called Daniel Cozens Court nestled within the Newtonbrook west community. With unwavering attention to the finest elegant architecture Grandfield Homes will bring a custom feel and transformation to this residential enclave community.

BBN: Can you describe any architectural details incorporated into the designs?

CG: The development of the property as well as the streetscapes are designed with sensitivity to appropriate landscaping, lighting, materials and scale of the adjacent homes and properties. Lower roof elements at front entrances and porches will relate to the surrounding homes while producing an attractive pedestrian environment. The end result are home designs that will help further define the established unified architectural style and community feel.

Special attention will also be paid to landmark lots that have high public exposure such as corner lots through building design and the highest architectural elements and details. At the rear, facades will be highly articulated through coordinated fenestration, detailing, accent gables and design elements.

BBN: How large are the homes and what kind of features and finishes can prospective homebuyers expect to see?

CG: The home size and scale will be reflective of the existing newly built custom homes within the established community. Homes will offer upgraded features like finished basements with large windows and walk-ups/walkouts and luxury finishes, including solid hardwood floors throughout, high-end appliances, granite countertops, marble flooring and high ceilings on all floors.

BBN: Grandfield is known for taking an eco-friendly approach to building master-planned communities and custom homes. What kind green initiatives, technologies or innovations has the company utilized in their projects?

CG: Our homes will have the latest trends in green initiatives ranging from eco-friendly appliances and furnaces to energy efficient windows, doors and HRV units (heat recovery ventilators). Our homes will be built with the highest quality materials and products with exceptional warranties.

BBN: What’s next for the company? Can you tell us about any new projects in the pipeline?

CG: We will be introducing a new community called York Mills Gardens consisting of high-end luxurious custom designed infill homes. The community is located within the area of Toronto known as C12, consisting of the neighborhoods of St. Andrew-Windfields and Bridlepath-Sunnybrook-York Mills. This area is always in high demand due to the many excellent amenities offered but also because of the low inventory of single detached homes in the Toronto market.

Kenton Park Crown Residence is scheduled to launch this spring. Be sure to register online for more information and to hear about the official release date.
