Sales at Extell Development Company’s 80-storey One Manhattan Squareeare off to a great start. The ambitious 815 unit residential tower has sold over 100 residences, including a $13 million penthouse, since launching sales in early November.

“The strong response to the building is a testament that our offering is a smart investment, with a good current return and potential appreciation,” said Gary Barnett, President of Extell Development Company. “Most of the residences at One Manhattan Square are in the $1 million to $3 million range which is product that is in the shortest supply and has the greatest demand in the current market.”

Designed by Adamson Associates Architects — the Toronto-based firm which served as executive architects on The Shard at London Bridge — the 800 foot tower will be a striking addition to the Manhattan skyline. The building is clad in a delicate mix of natural elements and modern accents, including a sleek glass curtain wall that reflects the river below. Other architectural highlights include the use of muntz metal on the podium and entranceway that provides a warm, earthy tone.

The development’s contemporary aesthetic is echoed in the interior design, where residential suites boast spacious layouts, panoramic skyline views and premium custom finishes. Envisioned by the renowned Meyer Davis Studio, the homes are available in a variety of one to three bedroom floorplans with plenty of natural light and standard designer finishes including five inch stained oak floors, imported stone, custom finishes and open-concept layouts.

Among the 100 residences which have already been sold is an expansive 3,699 square foot duplex penthouse priced at $13 million. Once completed, residents of the penthouse will enjoy unobstructed views throughout the home from the grand salon to the corner master bedroom suite. They’ll also have 416 square feet of outdoor space on the terrace, complete with a bird’s eye view of the East River, Brooklyn, New York Harbour, Financial District and Midtown Manhattan.

All residents of One Manhattan Square will have over 100,000 square feet of onsite amenities just steps from their door. Spread across four floors, the resort-like amenities were designed with rest, relaxation and entertainment in mind.

The luxurious spa area, for example, is centred around a tranquil courtyard and relaxation garden, while the multi-level fitness centre features multiple swimming pools, a bowling alley, full-size basketball court, golf simulators, squash court and yoga studio. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art cinema, stargazing observatory, children’s playroom, teen arcade, culinary lounge, wine room, cigar room and cellar bar.

To design the surrounding common areas, the developer partnered with Rotterdam-based landscape architects West 8. The celebrated design firm is known for their work at Governors Island and Miami’s Soundscape Gardens. For One Manhattan Square, they have created a 45,000 square feet outdoor oasis with lush gardens, an adult treehouse, fire pits, a tea pavilion and social courtyards.

Dotted with fine dining restaurants, boutique shops and avant-garde galleries, there’s no shortage of entertainment options in the area. The transforming neighbourhood is buzzing with energy and is within proximity of a number of landmarks including the South Street Seaport, Manhattan Bridge and the East River Esplanade. Some of the city’s top schools are also nearby including Parsons, New York University and Cooper Union.

Available suites at One Manhattan Square start at $1.16 million and include an anticipated 20 year tax abatement. To learn more about the project visit
