West Oakland, or WeOak as developers and real estate agents are rebranding it, is one of Oakland’s fastest-developing neighborhoods, and understandably so. It’s the closest you can get to San Francisco while still living in Oakland, and (at least for now) it’s considerably less expensive.

With growth comes new housing developments, and we’ve tracked down a few that you’re likely to see sprouting up if you frequent West Oakland. If you plan to buy or rent a home in the area anytime soon — or just want to stay in the know — we suggest scrolling through and adding them to your radar.

Station House

Located at 1401 Wood Street, Station House is a community of 171 two- to three-bedroom townhomes that’s currently under construction. Its focus on solar energy means that residents will not have to pay a gas bill and will have a much-reduced electrical bill.

P8 is still in preconstruction, but will eventually be situated on 20th Street. It will have a total of 235 homes and will be five stories tall. Few details are available, but we think the renderings of the building look pretty impressive.

The Union

Also still in preconstruction, The Union at 532 Union Street will ultimately house 110 rental apartments. If you’re looking to rent in the neighborhood we recommend keeping a close eye on this one.

Multicolored 500 Kirkham will be located at 1255 7th Street. Another rental apartment development, it will have a whopping 417 units when finished. It will also feature 22,000 square feet of ground floor retail and commercial space, as well as a two-level aboveground garage that will fit 264 cars.
