For the last seven years, developer Wesgroup has been busy at the former Labatt Brewery site in New Westminster. The goal? To build up commercial space to support The Brewery District, a new community of condo and townhome developments.

The move is unusual — typically residential development is first, with retailers coming later. But the strategy has worked well for Wesgroup, and it won’t be long before homes at The Columbia, its latest Brewery District project, are up for sale. One- and two-bedroom residences starting at $289,900 and $489,900, respectively, will be available, as well as some three bedrooms. All will provide easy access to everything The Brewery District has to offer.

Thanks to Wesgroup’s work in the area, plenty of businesses have already set up shop. Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart and TD Canada Trust are all on site, as are a slew of popular dining options, from Browns Socialhouse to Freshii to Starbucks. An incredible number of other amenities will also be on hand, with residents receiving an exclusive membership to Club Central, a 10,000-square-foot facility with a gym, sauna, squash court, indoor lounge and more. Green space will be nearby at an expansive public plaza.

And while part of the appeal of The Columbia is that everything is already there, travelling to other parts of Metro Vancouver will be easy — in fact, Wesgroup believes the community offers the best untapped value on transit north of the Fraser River. Notably, with the Sapperton SkyTrain station just steps away, downtown Vancouver will be only a 25-minute trip, while YVR will be a 25-minute car ride and Highway 1 will be just 5 minutes by car.

Sales will soon be starting at The Columbia, and Wesgroup expects interest to be high. In the meantime, prospective buyers can click here to register for updates or visit the sales centre at 285 Nelson’s Court in New Westminster. It’s currently open daily from 12pm to 5pm.
