The summer season may be winding down, but Windmill Developments is offering one last chance to enjoy a night out under the stars during its summer Bike-In Movie series. The Ottawa-based developer — in collaboration with Capital Pop-Up Cinema — will be hosting an outdoor screening of the cult classic Monty Python and The Holy Grail on Saturday, September 17th, from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.
The event marks the final film in the outdoor movie series, so make sure to grab a blanket, bring a chair (or rent an inflatable couch on-site), and head over to 6 Booth Street on Albert Island for a night of hilarious antics by the renowned British comedy group. Popcorn will be available for purchase as well as wine, beer, and churros from Savvy Company and Mr. Churritos.
The event is being held on the future site of Kanaal, the first condominium in the much anticipated Zibi community located on the Ottawa River between Ottawa and Gatineau. Situated next to the Ottawa River’s Buchanan Channel, the six-storey residence offers a rare opportunity for upscale island living, just minutes from downtown Ottawa. When completed, the project will consist of an exclusive collection of 61 urban condo flats, two-storey towns and luxury penthouses with private rooftop terraces.
The homes were designed by renowned Ottawa architect Barry J. Hobin & Associates Architects Inc., and feature Dutch-inspired architecture reminiscent of the charming canal homes of Amsterdam. On the south side, homeowners will enjoy private waterfront entrances, while the north side will boast a beautifully landscaped public courtyard dotted with shops, restaurants, cultural spaces and outdoor seating areas.
Inside, the suites combine European style with modern and urban features like expansive windows for lots of natural light, open concept living spaces, and designer kitchens and bathrooms. The thoughtfully-designed floorplans also feature plenty of outdoor space via large balconies or terraces to take in the waterfront views.
In keeping with their vision of creating one of the world’s most sustainable and environmentally conscious communities, Windmill has sourced the standard finishes from sustainable materials including Thermofoil or wood kitchen cupboards with no added urea formaldehyde (UF), non-off-gassing binders and glues. The prefinished engineered hardwood floors or laminate in the main living areas are also UF free and feature a low VOC finish. Other standard finishes include tiled backsplashes, quartz or granite countertops and an Energy Star, stainless steel appliance package with dishwasher, oven, cooktop stove, over-the-range hood and fridge/freezer combo.
Just steps from their doors, residents of Kanaal will have access to a wealth of spa, entertainment and health-inspired amenities inside the Play @ Zibi community centre. The state-of-the-art facility will house an indoor pool, full size gym, yoga/pilates studio, steam room, sauna, hot tub and massage room. For entertaining, residents can reserve the expansive party room and lounge that comes complete with a community kitchen.
