When was the last time you bought a piece of furniture that was handmade? A product that was slowly crafted in the confines of a local woodshop, rather than an overseas factory? For most of us, the answer is never. KROFT, a Toronto-based company, is changing the conversation around how we buy furniture — and they’re starting with a flagship showroom at Designers Walk in the city’s Annex neighbourhood.

The five-building complex caters to interior design professionals, acquainting them with high-quality products and innovative design. A dozen items from KROFT’s collection of modern furniture will be on display, including tables, benches, sideboards, mirrors and accessories. Customers can now see and touch the products before making a purchase — a first for the company, which previously sold its furnishings online and through their manufacturing facility north of Toronto.

“The Designers Walk showroom is a chance for us to showcase our handmade furniture,” says Dustin Kroft, Director of Product Management. “All of the furniture is made by our craftsmen, even the finish is hand applied. We also accept modifications to our work if needed, which is much better than getting stuck with off-the-shelf furniture.”

Members of the public can schedule an appointment to visit the showroom, located at 160 Pears Avenue, Suite 312, from Monday to Saturday. From now until October 31st, BuzzBuzzNews readers will receive a 25 per cent discount on their first purchase using the promo code Buzz25.
