Canada’s largest new master-planned community will soon be taking shape in Burnaby. Called The City of Lougheed, the 40-acre site will house over 23 high-rises, more than 300 new shops and restaurants and several distinct neighbourhoods.
Tower ONE in The City of Lougheed’s First Neighbourhood will be the first condo development in the community to go on sale. At over 55 storeys it will have more than 500 homes starting at $329,900. Developer Shape Properties will be opening three display homes and an 18,000-square-foot presentation centre to the public in late September.
The City of Lougheed will cover the current site of the Lougheed Town Centre shopping mall, which will undergo a major transformation as the area is built up. The First Neighbourhood will be surrounded by exciting ground-plane shopping and dining opportunities, plus an urban grocery market. Residents will also have access to an 18,000-square-foot, three-level amenity facility that will include a rooftop greenspace with community gardens. Two SkyTrain lines will be directly on site as well — the existing Millennium Line and the Evergreen Line, coming early 2017. For Shape Properties, the goal is to create the energy of downtown Vancouver at the centre of Metro Vancouver.
