Born and raised in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, Ron Joyce left the small Maritime village at the age of 16 and moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where he would later meet a young hockey player and donut shop owner named Tim Horton. The two formed a close friendship and became business partners when Joyce opened two more “Tim Hortons” franchises, in what would eventually become the most popular restaurant organization in Canada.

In the late 90s, the successful entrepreneur had a vision to build a luxury resort that would transform rural Nova Scotia while simultaneously helping the depressed local economy. This led to the creation of the 1,150-acre Fox Harb’r Resort, situated along the Northumberland shoreline, just north of Tatamagouche.
