Ottawa’s highly anticipated ArtHaus Condominiums is officially open. The 89-unit residence by DevMcGill held a grand opening celebration a few weeks ago that included a live broadcast by Ottawa’s Hot 89.9 and a packed crowd of prospective homebuyers.
Already under construction, the 23-storey tower will be the residential component of the $100 million expansion of the Ottawa Art Gallery and the redevelopment of Arts Court — a joint venture between the City of Ottawa, DevMcGill, The Ottawa Art Gallery, Group Germain and the University of Ottawa.
The multi-partner project is one of Canada’s most innovative and future-forward urban developments and will consist of a boutique luxury hotel, a 1,600-square-foot theatre run by the University of Ottawa, the expanded Ottawa Art Gallery, and a collection of new urban retail space. All of it located just steps from the Rideau Centre, the University of Ottawa campus, and the city’s renowned Byward Market — home to some of the city’s trendiest restaurants, coolest bars and clubs and unique boutique shops and galleries.
When designing the tower, Groupe Regis Cote captured the vibe and lifestyle of the Market by creating a contemporary, eye-pleasing structure that stands out yet blends well within the established community. The expansive spans of glass combined with recessed balconies on upper floors, and clean minimalist lines are certain to make ArtHaus a landmark on Ottawa’s skyline.
At the base of the tower will be the city’s first Le Germain luxury hotel, while floors 15 to 23 will house the residential units designed by Toronto-based U31. The renowned interior design team was also responsible for the project’s common areas including a dramatic lobby with sculptural ceilings lights, integrated seating areas and a gallery wall showcasing the work of local artists. Other amenities include a 15th floor Firestone Lounge, complete with a fireplace, TV lounge, catering kitchen and formal dining room. A state-of-the-art fitness centre is also available with modern cardio equipment, yoga and weight training areas.
Priced from the mid-$200,000s, the suites at ArtHaus range in size from 500 square feet to 1,400 square feet and boast an impressive list of features and finishes. Standard finishes include nine-foot smooth finished ceilings, pre-finished engineered hardwood floors, custom cabinetry and quartz countertops. A full appliance package with fridge, dishwasher, cooktop, oven and range hood is also included.
