Since opening last fall, On The Danforth Condos has been a hit with homebuyers looking for great value, inspired design, and an excellent location. The 10-storey midrise by DIAM Developments recently celebrated a new milestone as the project is now officially 50 per cent sold. However, there’s still a wide selection of floorplans available — like cozy studio suites starting at $246,990 and spacious two bedrooms from $399,990.

Designed by onespace unlimited Inc., On The Danforth Condos will feature contemporary architecture mixed with traditional character that blends well within the neighbourhood. Highlights of the building include ‘kinetic’ elements like the L and U-shapes in the brick that will make the structure appear to be in motion as the eye travels along its facade.

“The building rises giving a sense of movement, which is appropriate, considering On The Danforth is on the subway line,” said Rod Rowbotham, President at onespace unlimited inc. “Just as transit moves people, in this case, the motion in the façade nods to transit inspiring the building’s movement.”

In an effort to blend harmoniously within the existing neighbourhood, the architects chose a brick colour that complements the character of the adjacent Toronto Hydro building. The brick colour then changes to a darker tone at the height of the older building, breaking up the mass of the structure and continuing its contemporary aesthetic.

“Rather than mimicking the exterior of the Hydro building, we responded to its character by using a complimentary brick colour corresponding to the first few floors,” explained Rowbotham. “We also stepped the design back on the south side to acknowledge the clear brick base and create a dialogue between the two structures. The result will be a condominium that shakes hands architecturally with its neighbors.”

Inside, the development will house 135 units with open-concept layouts and luxurious features and finishes such as nine foot ceilings, wide plank flooring in main living areas, gas barbecue connections on balconies and quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.

Residents will also benefit from a long list of onsite amenities including a pet spa, 24 hour executive concierge and a 10th floor amenity space called Club Danny. Designed by esQape design Inc., Club Danny features a stylish rooftop terrace, private dining room, fully-equipped fitness room, WiFi lounge, fireplace and a multi-purpose party room complete with caterer’s kitchen.

Situated at 2359 Danforth Avenue, the project also boasts a Walk Score of 96 out of 100, with a location just steps from countless local amenities including restaurants, cafes, shops and services. The area is dotted with parks and green spaces including Stephenson Park, G. Grizzle Park and the East Toronto Athletic Field, while the shores of Kew Beach, Woodbine Beach and Ashbridge’s Bay Park are less than 10 minutes away by car.
