“We’re very excited to be named as a finalist,” says Mike Taylor, Granite Homes’ VP of sales and marketing, in a statement.
The home builder is up for the large-volume category award, which recognizes developers whose projects exceed 100 possessions in a year.
“Creating memorable customer experiences is something our team works extremely hard at and continually looks to improve upon. Thanks to our valued homeowners for their vote of confidence and also to our trade partners,” Taylor adds.
Finalists have been decided based on consumers’ responses to a survey. In November, Tarion distributed more than 56,000 surveys to the owners of new-construction homes who had taken possession of their dwelling between October 1st, 2014 and September 30th, 2015.
Questions homeowners were asked deal with every step along the path to homeownership, from signing paperwork to a builder’s quality of service after the deal has closed.
That’s why this year, Tarion — the private corporation launched by Ontario’s government in 1976 as a residential building industry watchdog — replaced the awards’ old name, the Tarion Awards of Excellence, with the more customer-oriented Homeowners’ Choice Awards.
“These awards have always been about new home buyers in Ontario and their level of satisfaction with their individual builder,” states Howard Bogach, Tarion’s president and CEO.
“Changing the name to the Homeowners’ Choice Awards simply reflects the importance of the customer’s experience in the new home buying process, and how each and every home buyer can have a say in whether a new home builder receives recognition,” Bogach continues.
In all, Tarion received close to 12,000 completed surveys from homeowners by the January 10th, 2016, deadline. Tarion will announce the winning developers in Toronto on April 28th, 2016.
Granite Homes’ Homeowners’ Choice Awards achievement follows the launch of Gallery Towns, its latest townhome project currently in the pre-construction phase in Guelph, Ontario. Prices at the 93-unit townhome community start at $449,990.
