Toronto-based Stanton Renaissance was recently recognized for its efforts in sustainability with their On the GO Mimico project nominated as a finalist for the QUEST 2015 Community Energy Building Awards held on October 27th.

Quest, a non-profit organization that conducts research, engagement and advocacy for energy efficient communities in Canada, presents the award annually to recognize leadership and innovation in several energy building sectors including real estate.

On the GO Mimico was selected as a finalist for its use of GeoExchange and Cogeneration technologies that positively affect greenhouse gas and climate change. The hybrid system uses the ground to store energy and then recycle it when needed. Cogeneration goes one step further, producing electricity and heat from a natural gas powered heat engine. The electricity and thermal energy is then recirculated into the ground as an additional heat source. Not only is this technology more environmentally friendly and reduces greenhouse gases, but it also translates to lower utility costs and maintenance fees for homeowners.

“We’re not in the green sphere anymore,” said Louie Santaguida, President and CEO of Stanton Renaissance at the 2015 Quest Conference. “Stanton sees a sustainable revolution happening. We’ve gone from green, to clean, to pristine.”

In addition, the project’s location at Royal York and New Castle Street in Etobicoke, allows residents to leave their cars at home and take public transportation with the Mimico GO Station just steps from their door. Its ideal location also offers residents convenient access to a variety of shops, bakeries and restaurants along Royal York Road, as well as several lakefront trails and green spaces including Coronation Park and Mimico Waterfront Park.

Eco-friendly features can also be found in the project’s amenity spaces which include a green roof, as well as an onsite eco-car wash. Other amenities include a fully equipped gym, yoga and pilates studio, a pet grooming station and an entertainment and media lounge.

When complete in 2017, On the GO Mimico will house 242 units and rise 27 storeys above the Etobicoke skyline providing stunning lake and city views. The suites range in size from 537 square feet to 2,700 square feet and are well-appointed with italian designed kitchen cabinetry, CaesarStone or quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances.

With the project at 85 per cent sold and construction well underway, now is your chance to be a part of this exceptional, eco-friendly community. There’s still a great selection of suites available including two bedrooms with exceptional views.

Although the sales centre is now closed, prospective homebuyers can contact the Royal LePage Your Community office in Richmond Hill at 905 883 1721 for a private viewing.
