For a cool $75,000 a night, moneyed travellers can now stay in the two-story penthouse of The Mark Hotel. The nightly rate for the penthouse at the hotel, located in the Upper East Side at Madison Avenue and 77th Street, makes it the world’s most expensive hotel room.
Originally conceived as a luxury private residence, the 12,000 square foot suite has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a dining room that seats up to 24 people. The suite was designed by renowned French interior designer Jacques Grange, who also worked on the design for the entire hotel.
Your $75,000 will earn you access to the 2,500 square foot rooftop terrace with views of the Manhattan skyline and Central Park. And, if you’re in the mood for a party, the living room can be converted into a grand ballroom with 26 foot ceilings. Other creature comforts included in the suite are a grand piano, library lounge, two wet bars and two powder rooms.
According to the Daily Mail, the suite beats out all other swanky suites in the world in terms of cost per night — and it does so by a wide margin too. The hotel with the second most expensive suite is the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva. It costs $60,000 a night. The third most expensive suite is in New York’s Four Seasons Hotel. It will cost you $55,000 for a one-night stay.
Whether you think the extremely high price is justified or not, you’ve got to admit the suite boasts some impressive features and amenities.
Adding to the suite’s luxury pedigree is the 24-hour room service from The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges. The chef’s flagship restaurant, Jean-Georges, in the Upper West Side boasts three Michelin stars, so if you’re craving some late-night black truffle pizza, you know you’re going to be getting the finest in the city.
