Located at the corner of Richmond Street West and Duncan Street in Toronto’s Entertainment District, construction at Studio Condos has been progressing well since breaking ground in 2012. The community by Aspen Ridge Homes consists of two towers designed by the renowned firm Quadrangle Architects.
When we visited the project last April, the first tower had already topped off, while Studio 2 had just passed the halfway point. BuzzBuzzHome News returned to the site last week to get a tour of the property with Project Manager Armin Osmanovic of Aspen Ridge Homes.
The first tower, which rises to 31-storeys and sits on the east side of the lot, is fully complete and has already occupied up to the 28th floor. Landscape work and other final touches have also started along the Richmond streetscape.
Over on the west side, concrete has reached the top of the 41-storey Studio 2 tower and windows have been installed up to the 29th floor. According to Osmanovic, the crane is expected to be disassembled in about a month and occupancy is scheduled for April 2016.
The Mike Niven-designed lobby at Studio provides a grand statement, welcoming homeowners and guests with a large and modern space accented by contemporary furniture, dark stoned walls and floors and modern art pieces. The lobby in Studio2 should be just as dramatic with designer furniture pieces, contemporary art and bold lighting fixtures.
“Studio Condominiums has always been about art meets life, and with Studio2, the story continues,” said Mike Niven of Mike Niven Interior Design Inc. “Studio2 is the proverbial older sister to Studio, a little darker, a bit hotter and a bit more subtle, but just as sophisticated – perhaps even a tad more.”
The ground floor will also be home to a new OCADU Art Gallery and cafe with over 8,000 square feet of space for OCAD alumni, faculty and students to display their work. There’s no direct access through the condo, but the gallery is accessible through the rear service bay.
During our tour we stopped by two finished suites. Unit 201 is a 760 square foot one-bedroom plus den with two bathrooms. Priced at $433,990 the floorplan boasts a spacious living area, luxurious ensuite bath, and a large walk-in closet. The second unit, priced at $394,990, was slightly smaller at 687 square feet but also featured a one-bedroom plus den layout.
All units at Studio Condos are appointed with either Torlys engineered wood floors or Torlys Smart laminate floors, nine foot ceilings, granite or Caesarstone countertops and a Miele kitchen appliance package.
Residents of both towers will also have access to a wealth of fitness, entertainment and lifestyle amenities. Amenities at Studio are split between the first and ninth floors.
Located on the ground floor just behind the lobby is a fully equipped fitness centre, while the ninth floor features a media lounge, bar, billiards room, outdoor terrace with barbecues, a dining and games room, and a yoga room.
The expansive amenity space also includes a spectacular winter lounge with heated floors, his and her saunas and steam rooms, and an outdoor terrace with two hot tubs, water feature, and stunning views of the city.
Studio 2 has similar amenities but they’re all located on the sixth floor. In addition, the outdoor amenities are found on one long terrace, instead of being split between two terraces as seen in the first tower.
We wrapped up our tour by visiting the penthouse suites on both towers. These suites aren’t available yet, but will be released soon. Each one is approximately 3,000 square feet and offer 10 foot ceilings, three bedrooms, luxurious ensuites and multiple balconies with fantastic views of the city.
A wide selection of units are still available in both towers starting from the $300,000s. Be sure to drop by the presentation centre located at 25 Nelson Street, Monday through Thursdays and weekends from 12pm to 6pm.
