The preliminary construction phase is nearing completion on City of Toronto’s Six Points reconfiguration project. It will bring about a new alignment of Dundas Street between Kipling and Bloor Street, and support the development of Etobicoke Centre as a vital mixed use urban community.
This is good news for the residents at Pemberton Group’s Vivid Condominiums. When the project is complete the entire area will benefit from the completely upgraded streetscape and enhanced traffic and cycle paths.
Improvements should further transform the area into a place where Vivid Condominiums residents can not only live and play, but work as well. In addition to transforming the complicated six-way intersection of Bloor Street West, Dundas Street West, and Kipling Avenue — known colloquially as “Spaghetti Junction” — into two separate four way crossings, it will also bring a wide treed median that will extend the entire length of the project. Wider sidewalks, greenery, bike lanes and a number of public parks will all be added to the area, making it all the more pleasant for Vivid Condominiums residents.
Once the upgrades are complete, 20 acres of land will be made available for redevelopment, beginning with a YMCA Community Recreation Centre. Then, retail, office and mixed-use developments will follow, completing the neighbourhood upgrade. The initial construction phase is expected to wind down this fall, and the whole project is expected to be completed in four to five years following that.
