With golden shovels dug into a mound of dirt, Fusion Homes officially broke ground on The Metalworks, a new development of condominiums and townhomes along Guelph’s Speed River. Construction has begun on the first phase of the project, which is now over 70 per cent sold. The project will eventually grow to include more than 600 units, transforming the neighbourhood with a scenic riverwalk and 30,000 square feet of dining, cafes, galleries and shopping.

“I am thrilled to be part of this milestone for downtown Guelph,” said Mayor Cam Guthrie, who participated in the groundbreaking. “The Metalworks development gives new life to an underused riverfront property in the heart of our downtown, and it will bring hundreds of people to live, work, and play here.”

For buyers who are eager to get in on this exciting new community, five spacious River Lofts are still available. Priced from $599,900, these two or three bedroom residences are spread out over three floors. Floorplans range from 2,375 to 2,864 square feet and include picturesque balconies and terraces. Suite interiors are distinguished by open-concept kitchens with large islands, breakfast bar seating, granite countertops, designer cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and walk-in pantries, as per plan. Lofts provide flexible space that can serve as a third bedroom, home office or playroom. Plus, spa-inspired bathrooms are outfitted with chrome accessories and deep soaker tubs.
