Construction at Cloud9 Condos by The Lash Group is ramping up as the project nears its October completion date. The first occupancies are scheduled for October 14th, so BuzzBuzzHome News dropped by the site to check out the latest progress.
The tour, led by Serge Mazzuca, Vice President of Construction, started on the south side of the E.I. Richmond Architects Inc.-designed building where townhome suites line Esther Lorrie Drive. These ground level units will have patio space as well as lush gardens that are plumbed for minimum maintenance.
Elsewhere on the exterior, the brick and precast cladding as well as the window glazing are all installed. Work on the balconies is also progressing with most glass panels and railings now installed. The railings on Cloud9 are designed slightly differently to meet a new building code requirement which makes it necessary for glass panels to be set further back from the edge.
We entered the building through the secondary entrance on the southeast corner. This entryway provides a quick and easy exit for residents to catch the buses that run along Kipling Avenue.
The main lobby and entrance is located on the other side of the building off of the circular driveway. When complete, the common area will feature a concierge, seating areas and a unique cloud-esque ceiling design.
Around the corner from the lobby is the spacious party room which opens up to an outdoor terrace. The party room will also have a kitchen area, dining room, and a cozy wall fireplace.
The residential suites are also coming along well with many units already painted, have floors installed, and kitchen appliances in place.
Our next stop was on the roof of the 12-storey mid-rise where more amenities are located. This include a well-equipped fitness centre, rooftop lounge, and an impressive indoor swimming pool with sweeping views of the city.
