First came easy apartment renting with Airbnb, and then Uber revolutionized the ride-share industry. Now those looking for a nautical getaway can rent a boat within minutes on Sailo, a startup with offices in New York and Florida.

The website functions similarly to Airbnb. Users simply type in where and when they want to go and with how many people, and then they receive a list of boat-owners and licensed captains.

Once they’ve found a boat they like, they can communicate directly with the boat-owner and/or captain to customize their trip and arrange details. After the stay, users leave testimonials, much like with Uber and Airbnb.

The service’s primary locations are Palm Beach, New York, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hampton Bays and Miami Beach, but users can choose from any location across the US. A wide variety of boats including sailboats, motorboats, pontoons, cruisers and even yachts is available.

Founded in 2014 by Adrian Gradinaru, Magda Marcu, Delphine Braas and Bogdan Batog, Sailo’s mission is to make the process of renting a boat quick, easily accessible and affordable. The service has already been featured in Maxim, Fortune, Entrepreneur, TechCrunch and Fox Business Channel, being touted as the Airbnb of the high seas.
