Open-concept layouts are here to stay. With sledgehammers at the ready, today’s homeowners are eager to knock down walls and leverage natural lighting. But large renovation projects can be a real challenge — just ask Kate Davidson, founder of Kate Davidson Design Inc. She recently completed a two-year transformation of a family home in Burlington, Ontario. The house was demolished to its foundation and then rebuilt with a 400 square foot addition. While surviving the stress of a renovation is often the biggest obstacle, decorating your open-concept living space can be just as headache-inducing. Here, Davidson offers advice on how to use decor to create zones with character and purpose.
