If last week’s Minto Westside Block Party is an indication of what’s to come, the King West neighbourhood is in for a real treat. On Thursday, August 13th, crowds of local and future Minto residents gathered at Front and Bathurst Street to peruse the line-up of arts, crafts and food vendors.
“Minto Westside is going to be a community on its own, and we wanted to start to build that community with this event,” said Diane Wallace, Minto’s Director of Marketing.
Toronto musician Jessica Speziale kept the party atmosphere alive throughout the evening, playing pop rock covers and originals. Two Canadian Pan Am athletes took to the stage to thank the city for its support and local politicians canvassed for votes.
The block party was the night market edition of this summer’s Minto Westside Farm City TO urban farmers’ market, which takes place every Monday and Friday from 4 to 8pm. “It’s been going really well — people love it!” said Wallace when asked about the market’s success. “It hosts all types of vendors and products, from peaches to soaps to local honey.”
Attendees also toured the well-styled Minto Westside presentation centre, which boasts two model suites. Amanda Wilson Watkins, Minto’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales, said sales of the two highrise towers are going strong. “We’ve seen quite a mix of people, not only investors but a lot of first time buyers. Many of them are from this neighbourhood — they’ve fallen in love with King West and want to stay here but are looking for something a bit newer. The response has been phenomenal so far.”
Studio, one bedroom, one bedroom plus den, two bedroom, two bedroom plus den and three bedroom suites are available, priced from the high $200,000s. The development offers an extensive array of amenities, including landscaped courtyards, a state-of-the-art Movement Haus Gym, rooftop pool and indoor/outdoor lounge areas.
“People are falling in love with this idea of a community within a community,” said Wallace. “Minto Westside is so close to everything the city has to offer and that’s really resonating with buyers.”
Visit the Minto Westside sales centre at 25 Bathurst Street from Monday to Thursday, noon to 7pm or on weekends from noon to 5pm.
