Great Gulf, an award-winning builder and developer in Toronto and the GTA, has just announced a hefty donation to Wellspring Chinguacousy. The $200,000 will go towards supporting people living with cancer in Brampton and the surrounding area.
Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey, Regional Councillor Gael Miles, Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation CEO Christina Smith and Great Gulf President Christopher Wein were all in attendance at Thursday’s cheque presentation at Wellspring’s Brampton location. Smith thanked the developer for its generous donation.
“We are so thankful for the corporate support we receive from companies like Great Gulf. With no core government funding, Wellspring Chinguacousy relies on donations from the generous Brampton community to continue to provide cancer support programs and services to people living with cancer and their loved ones, free of charge,” she said.
“Last year, Wellspring Chinguacousy had 6,721 program visits and since opening its doors in 2008, it has provided support to over 3,400 people living with cancer.”
Wein explained that supporting community initiatives is integral to Great Gulf’s mission.
“Great Gulf has been building master-planned communities for four decades in Canada and the US. With a deep commitment to corporate social responsibility, we stay connected to the communities we build by participating in local initiatives,” he said.
“We are proud to be involved in Wellspring Chinguacousy knowing that this community-based support centre plays a significant role in providing important programs to improve the physical and psychological well-being of those and their families touched by cancer.”
The Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation is a community-based network of centres that offer programs and services to help people living with cancer. The centres provide emotional, social and practical support to cancer sufferers and their families completely free of charge.
Wellspring Chinguacousy is one of four Wellspring locations across the GTA. Last year alone, 6,721 people visited the Brampton centre at Father Tobin and Tobram Road.
The Great Gulf Group of Companies encompasses Ashton Woods, First Gulf, Tucker HiRise, H+me Technology and Taboo Muskoka. Today, it’s one of North America’s biggest real estate organizations and it currently has projects in the works across Canada and in 13 US cities.
