Hot on the heels of the successful completion of Love Condos, Gemterra celebrated the official ground breaking of Joy Condos — the second phase of their master-planned community in Scarborough’s Agincourt neighbourhood.

BuzzBuzzHome News was there alongside Norm Kelly, councillor for Ward 40 Scarborough-Agincourt, Fiona Su, Senior Constituency Assistant to MPP Soo Wong, Barbara Lawlor, President of Baker Real Estate and Yan Wang, Vice President of Gemterra Developments Corporation.

Yan Wang kicked off the festivities by welcoming guests to the special occasion and expressing his enthusiasm for the project. “Joy Condos will be the milestone to our development here in Agincourt,” said Wang. “Today’s groundbreaking marks our commitment to continue with our high quality projects in this bustling pocket of Scarborough.”

Councillor Norm Kelly also addressed the crowd. “My wife asked me, ‘What are you going to be doing this morning?’ and I said, ‘Well the first thing is, I’m going to be in Love,’” Kelly joked. “I had to explain that.”

“This is the first chance I’ve had to see this building up close. Everything you could possibly want in terms of personal lifestyle and community services are here and I congratulate Gemterra for producing such a great product. I’m looking forward to the joy of celebrating the opening of its companion tower.”

Barbara Lawlor, President of Baker Real Estate, echoed Councillor Kelly’s sentiments, expressing her excitement about the project. “Because of Love, the reputation of Gemterra has grown and spread and many more people have come to buy at Joy,” said Lawlor.

The groundbreaking of Joy Condos, which took place almost a year ahead of schedule, is an achievement in itself given that sales launched just six weeks ago. “We have only been in the market a very short time and to be able to begin construction so quickly is amazing,” she said.

Following the speeches, we were invited up to the expansive roof terrace to get an elevated view of the ground breaking.

Designed by landscape architect Gus Maurano of The MBTW Group, the beautiful roof garden and terrace is situated atop the development’s Amenity Centre. The large greenspace boasts lush landscaping, comfortable seating areas and great views of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Other amenities include a 24 hour concierge, an indoor swimming pool with hot tub, sauna, state-of-the-art fitness centre, billiards lounge and party room.

Starting in the low $200,000s, the suites at Joy Condos feature nine foot ceilings, premium plank laminate floors, quartz kitchen countertops and a modern stainless steel appliance package.

While sales at Joy Condos have been strong, there is still a wide selection of suites and layouts to choose from. Be sure to register online and visit the sales centre located at 175-5 Bonis Avenue, open Mondays through Thursdays from 12pm to 6pm and weekends from 12pm to 5pm for more information.
