“If you build it, they will come,” this often misquoted piece of advice (the pronoun is actually he) worked for Kevin Costner’s character in Field of Dreams, but also appears to be true of Calgary’s East Village. Once a gritty, rundown area, labeled as a “skid row” in the 40s, the community has undergone rapid gentrification and is now the site of newly constructed condominium towers, businesses, hotels, parks and a pedestrian-only walkway.
One such project to revitalize the riverfront is Verve Condominiums — a 25-storey building with fritted glass and geometric balconies. Penthouse Four is a spectacular suite, with two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and a den. The Cecconi Simone-designed interiors are outfitted with quartz countertops, Euro-style kitchen cabinetry, built-in stainless steel appliances, under cabinet LED lighting, pre-finished laminate flooring and oversized porcelain tiles in the bathroom.
The kitchen and dining area features an island with ample bar seating and custom designed pendant lights. The master bedroom boasts its own balcony with panoramic views of the Bow River. The his and hers walk-in closet is ultra-luxurious and the ensuite features a deep soaker tub and separate shower with a glass surround and rain showerhead. Watch the neighbourhood change before your eyes from the angular outdoor terrace, which features a barbecue hook up and ample room for lounging. The East Village has never looked so good, why not make it your new home?
