The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games have come to a close. The end of the two week long event was marked by Kanye West’s now infamous mic toss and fireworks shooting from the CN Tower. However, preparation leading up to the Games began long before the athletes arrived.

Construction work on The Canary District, which also served as the Pan Am Athletes’ Village, kicked off in 2012. The West Don Lands have been transformed by the mixed-use community, which features two condominiums, an 18-acre park, affordable housing, a George Brown College student residence, the Cooper Coo YMCA complex and a pedestrian promenade lined with restaurants and retail.
