BuzzBuzzHome News was on the scene for the exclusive preview event for North Drive’s 4 The Kingsway at Bloor Street West and The Kingsway. The event was held at the historic Old Mill Hotel, located just a block away from the project site.
Guests were treated to white glove service, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as they browsed the spacious and open floorplans available for purchase. Also on hand were the project’s architect, the renowned Richard Wengle, and celebrity interior designer Brian Gluckstein who each shared details about the project.
Located in the prestigious Kingsway, 4 The Kingsway is a fitting addition to the established neighbourhood known for its historic homes on winding tree-lined streets.
“This is a very iconic site, and very special to us,” said Wengle. “It’s very rare to get a site that literally creates the building.”
Clad in stone, brick and topped with a copper dome, the building has a traditional feel mixed with the old-world cachet and elegance of Parisian apartment buildings. The design was inspired by Beaux Arts architecture and features colonnades, overhangs, recessed balconies and wrought iron details.
“Beaux Arts is a beautiful style that’s everlasting and has been done for over 100 years,” explains Wengle. “4 The Kingsway is a timeless building, not an of-the-moment building that will lose its flair.”
The classical elegance of the exterior continues inside where interior designer Brian Gluckstein has created a traditional oasis accented by modern touches. Described by Gluckstein as “clean and traditional,” the lobby will have contemporary furniture surrounded by warm wood and stone finishes, inlay floors, lacquered ceilings and crown moulding.
“Just like the exterior, the interiors are classic and timeless, said Gluckstein. “You’ll look at the lobby in 10, 20, 30 years and it will be just as beautiful.”
The suites feature airy, open concept layouts with spacious rooms, beautiful bathrooms and gourmet kitchens appointed with the finest features and finishes. Standard are nine foot ceilings, pre-finished hardwood floors, stone tile in bathrooms and marble countertops in the kitchen. Appliances by Subzero, Asko and Wolf are also included.
Construction at 4 The Kingsway is anticipated to commence before the end of 2015. When completed in December 2017, the eight-storey mid-rise will house four multi-level homes and 34 residences.
Suites start at $969,990 and include one free parking space.
