1 Yorkville, one of the most anticipated development in Toronto’s Yorkville area, has reached a new milestone. The 58-storey tower by Bazis and Plaza is now in the demolition phase as construction crews have torn down the strip of properties from 1 to 9a Yorkville Avenue where the main driveway entrance will be located.
Internal demolition and abatement has also been completed on the rest of the property, while heritage stabilization work will soon commence on the properties along 836 to 848a Yonge Street. This stage involves assessing the properties to determine the extent of internal remediation required. Once the properties have been assessed, an engineering plan will be prescribed to address areas that require reinforcement, repairs, or bracing in preparation for phase two of demolition and future restoration.
These mid-19th century era buildings will be fully restored with the first 10 meters preserved, and will form the retail component of 1 Yorkville’s podium.
When completed in 2018, 1 Yorkville will become a distinctive sight along the Yorkville skyline thanks to its unique architecture by Toronto-based firm, R. Varacalli Architect Inc. Cladded in ribbons of faceted metal and steel, the “3D wallpaper’ as Varacalli describes it, will appear to transform when viewed from different angles and lighting conditions.
Beneath the dynamic exterior styling, 1 Yorkville will house 577 units priced from $408,000 and ranging in size from 451 square feet to 2,286 square feet. The suites come well-appointed with nine foot ceilings, a selection of pre-engineered flooring throughout, quartz countertops, and european custom cabinetry by Design Agency.
The development also offers a long list of amenities spread across the podium and the rooftop area. Located on the 4th and 5th floor is the luxurious spa with an outdoor pool, hot tub, hot and cold plunge pools, zen garden and a fully-equipped CrossFit studio.
Up on the rooftop amenity deck, residents can take in the breathtaking city views, barbecue some steaks by the fire pit lounge, watch a film on the outdoor cinema or host friends and family in one of the two party rooms that come complete with kitchens and lounge areas.
