The Real Deal is reporting that a Qatari buyer may be making the most pricey purchase in New York City with a lavish penthouse at Central Park South.
The buyer would combine multiple apartments into a single, $250 million penthouse, smashing the previous record of $100.5M set at One57 in January.
This would be one of the world’s most expensive residences.
The Real Deal goes on to note that “sales at 220 Central Park South have been strong, defying industry talk over a slowing ultra-luxury market. In May, Vornado announced it had sold units in the building for a combined $1.1 billion in just six weeks.”
220 CPS is a new condo development by Vornado Realty Trust currently under construction at 220 Central Park South in New York and designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The development is scheduled for completion this year and has a total of 173 units.
