Toronto-based startup Alfred Service has won a Webby Award for Best Use of Animation or Motion Graphics in the Outstanding Websites category. Founded in 2014 by entrepreneur and land developer Matt Young, the service offers 24-hour, seven-days-a-week dry cleaning, shoe care, clothing repair and more in over 100 residential buildings around the GTA.
The creative team at ad agency Blackjet designed the company’s website. Their design beat out over 13,000 other submissions, including National Geographic and US Open Sessions.
The website is indeed impressive, offering its visitors an amusing interactive and colourful experience.
The winner of the award is selected by over 1,000 members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, an organization based in New York City. Alfred was also nominated for Best Home Page Design, which is also part of the Outstanding Websites category.
Young says he’s honoured to have won the award. “We put a lot of effort into developing an engaging brand that spoke to our core values, and the team at Blackjet really delivered on that beyond our wildest expectations. More than the award, it was an honour working with such an inspired creative team,” he says.
Alfred customers can drop off and pick up their garments around the clock by using the service’s locker system or the building’s concierge. They can also easily place an order through the company’s iPhone app or through text and requests are usually completed within 48 hours.
The service is aptly named after Bruce Wayne’s well-known and trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
