Many parts of North America have been under cold weather advisories — west coast not included — making February one of the coldest months on record. In fact, all the blasts of arctic air from the north have broken temperature records across the midwest and eastern seaboard.

Flint, Michigan tied its all-time record low for any month with temperatures dipping down to minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Over in New York City, temperatures shattered a 65 year record when the mercury dipped to 2 degrees Fahrenheit in Central Park last week — five degrees cooler than the record low on that date in 1950.

Temperatures in Southern Ontario have remained below freezing since January. According to Environment Canada, this sets the stage for the first time an entire calendar month has been below freezing in Toronto since 1978.

We thought we’d celebrate all the record breaking temperatures by featuring some of our favorite frozen and frigid weather photos from Instagram.

Enjoy!
