Danish design team Iskos-Berlin have reinvented one of the most iconic Eames designs ever — and made it 100 percent recyclable. It took two years for Iskos-Berlin to perfect the wood fiber and plastic composition. Their finished product was unveiled at last month’s Maison & Objet trade fair in Paris. The chair is part of a collection for Muuto, a Scandinavian design company based in Copenhagen.

The fiber chair is also customizable — available in seven colours, four bases, three upholstery and two leather options. Its design is intended to maximize both comfort and function, with a bucket seat, subtly curved back and two arm rests. Our favorite is the cognac silk leather model with sled legs, pictured below.

Priced from $281 USD, the chairs aren’t as cheap as their Eames predecessors. But they are a versatile investment — fitting in seamlessly with every room of the house. Muuto products are available at several locations throughout the US and Canada.
