A LGBT-friendly church in the Castro will be converted into four luxury condos.

The Metropolitan Community Church sold its building at 150 Eureka Street to a team of developers for $2.3 million, the San Francisco Examiner reported. The property, which dates to around 1900, was purchased by the church organization in 1980.

The buyer, 150 Eureka St., LLC, plans to construct two buildings with two high-end condos each. The team of developers has previously won an award from The Victorian Alliance of San Francisco last year for its restoration of a Baptist church on Broderick Street into a $5 million mansion, Curbed reported.

The congregation will move to the First Congregational Church of San Francisco at 1300 Polk Street. Church members voted unanimously in December to put the dilapidated structure up for sale in early January.

“They kind of loved it to death, it’s so used up,” Katharine Holland, associate broker at Coldwell Banker, told the Examiner. “We had caution tape up as we were showing it. It’s what we call a contractor’s special.”
